Under 11 Boys Football Victory!

U11 boys
Another congratulations this week to the Under 11 boys for their win against Heathfield this week. It was a tough match but the Regent’s were victorious with a score on 3:2.

The team are now moving towards the end of season tournament. Well done again to the team!

KS1 Stars of the Week

The children in Key Stage 1 continue to work hard and they continue to make it difficult for their teachers to choose just one Star of the Week.

Due to a very busy period we where very lucky to hand out the Star of the Star of the Week Certificates for two weeks in this week assembly. This meant that we celebrated 8 children’s great work and achievements together.

A huge well done to the children and the teachers are delighted to have such a difficult decision to make!

Welcome letter from Head of Primary

Dear Parent,

a-Rachel_0002webThank you for coming to join us on our very special International Day on Saturday the 27th of February, it was a delight to share the day with you. I was very impressed with the year group performances and the children danced, played instruments and sang beautifully. I was particularly pleased to see the quality of the costumes and props the children used. The booths were very professionally decorated and I witnessed many of the children enjoying the games organised by the class teachers.

My heartfelt thanks go to the teachers and teaching assistants for their help on the day and the planning and preparation these important event take.

This weekend we have a group of children attending the Tournament of Mind competition at ISB and I would like to wish them the very best for the event.

Have a great weekend.

Best wishes

Rachel

Message from Head of Secondary

a-Brian_0002webOn the final Friday of last half-term, school was closed to students, but open to staff who had an INSET day. The day began with teams of staff presenting for 5-10 minutes on a topic of educational interest to their colleagues. The quality of the research, preparation and presentations only confirmed what I already knew about the staff at Regent’s International School; your children are in safe and professional hands.

This week we have a team of students bound for Kuala Lumpur for a FOBISIA Maths Competition with Ms Addis and Mr Corr. We wish them well for the competition and also in making the memories upon which a good school experience is built.

On Saturday we had our annual International Day where both students and staff have been involved collaboratively in preparing National, Multinational or Colour Booths, kick-starting our recycling project and other projects involving our various community partners. It really is a whole school and wider community event with all parties working together to make the day successful.

This week, Dr Peter Jones who will be the Head of Secondary from August 2016 will be visiting the school to meet with students and staff to help ensure that a smooth transition takes place prior to his moving to Thailand in August. I am arranging an informal meeting whereby parents are invited to meet Dr Jones on Wednesday 2nd March at 8.10am in the Business Suite meeting room.

Another busy, exciting and learning-filled week as usual.

Regent’s students meet NASA engineer

On Wednesday the 24th of February Data from Year 6 and Santa from Year 5 went to join ‘A Day in the Life of NASA engineer’ at Space Inspirium in Bangkok. During the visit they met Dr. Juan Roman who currently works at NASA. Dr Roman spoke about his childhood and told the children that even though his family was poor, with hard work and encouragement from his parents to study he has achieved his dream to build space rockets. Data and Santa were inspired by his presentation and came back to school to share their experience with their classmates.

Year 10 Natural Forms Project

Year 10 Art students have started a mini IGCSE project all based upon Natural Forms, looking at Artists who themselves use these in their work and studying a wealth of forms. Their next step is to use these images and create their own imaginative pieces of Art.

Secondary Weekly Debate

Each week, all staff and students are invited to contribute to a weekly debate. Have a look at what we’ve been debating this week.
