Olivia! Musical by Y5 and Y6 students

On Friday 10 February, Years 5 and 6 put on the spectacular performance, ‘Olivia – The Musical’. This was the result of many weeks of dedication and hard work. The story was loosely based on ‘Oliver’ by Charles Dickens although this time, the protagonist is a girl named Olivia who meets Fagin and the Artful Dodger in London. An array of characters from Victorian English literature were featured, including Eliza Doolittle, Sherlock Holmes, Doctor Watson, Scrooge and George Bernard Shaw. A huge amount of effort clearly went into this production and the end result was truly outstanding. Well done to all the cast and crew!

Eagle performed in Lumpini Park as one of Royal BSO finalists

Our student Eagle has received recognition at such a young age because of her beautiful voice and dedication. Recently she performed at the concert in Lumpini Park as one of Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra finalists. We wish her all the best for the final competition round.

Primary Residential and Field Trips

For our Primary students last week was a time to connect with friends, explore, and learn. While the Year 4-Year 6 students were out of town for residential trips, the other primary years enjoyed their own little field trips in Bangkok. Here are some highlights from each year group.

Find out more about each trip on the class blogs http://www.regents.ac.th/1461/primary/primary-class-blogs

Open Mic Evening

The Open Mic was a great little event, aimed at showcasing the broad array of talent in the school. This first show was small; just four excellent acts; but future events are set to grow to encompass music, drama, comedy, speeches, magic, rap, dance, and many besides.

Thank you to our staff and students for your support.

House Debate Competition

Tensions were high in Secondary in the week beginning 22nd January as the whole school got involved in the House Debate Competition.  Students from years 7 to 12 participated in the researching, planning and presentation of debate speeches all on the theme of ‘Internationalism’.  Every student involved showed confidence and passion as they developed skills of evaluation and English language on the debating stage.  The competition ended in a tie between Blue and Yellow Houses.  Well done to all debaters!

U13 Girls – TISAC Football Tournament

The U13 Girls recently competed in the TISAC Football Tournament at Bromsgrove International School. They played in 5 hard fought games against schools around Bangkok. The girls worked hard throughout each of the matches to produce goals and some skillful play. The girls also demonstrated great sportsmanship and leadership skills to produce a fantastic 4th place finish. Well done girls! We look forward to our next football festival at KIS in March.

Secondary TISAC Athletics Competition

On Thursday, we took away 32 students to represent Regent’s at the Secondary TISAC Athletics competition. The day was a real team effort with students pushing themselves to their limits. They behaved impeccably as they supported their team mates through a range of events including 1500m, triple jump and javelin. The team demonstrated determination and perseverance throughout the day, resulting in a medal count of 18, 7 of which being gold! Our gold streak included, double gold medals to Catalina (U13) and Lissa (Senior) for Long Jump and Triple Jump and our 4x 100m Senior boys team steaming to victory in a closely contended race.

These fantastic efforts resulted in the Senior team coming third overall. A brilliant achievement considering the caliber of the schools in attendance.

Thank you to Mr Harrison and Ms Allcroft who spent the whole day running the Long Jump event for the students and to all the students for showing true Regent’s spirit throughout the day.

University Visits 2017

We were pleased to welcome representatives from universities in the UK and Ireland, along with Regent’s International College, to our British Universities fair. Students in years 11-13 had the chance to talk to representatives about admissions, life as a student and different degree courses available. We have recently had visits from Imperial College, London, The University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, The University of St Louis and The University of Alabama in Birmingham. This month we are welcoming representatives from Hawai’i Pacific University, San Jose State University and the University of San Francisco. Year 11 students should make sure they join our Google Classroom page so that they receive all updates about visits.

TISAC Primary Athletics Competition

We took an enthusiastic group of Year 6 athletes along to the annual TISAC Primary Athletics competition, held at St Johns. The students were fantastic and worked really hard in the run, jump and throw events. A notable result was May who won a gold medal in the 600m running race.
