Work experience programme at Lad Prao Hospital

On Friday 10th November, 6 of our Year 13 students have started a 6 week work experience programme at Lad Prao Hospital. This is a hospital we have a close connection with and we are grateful to them for giving us this wonderful opportunity. The 6 students are all interested in pursuing a medical related career once they graduate from Regent’s, and experiences like this are essential for their University applications. They will work each Saturday for the rest of the term, getting involved with a range of departments across the hospital. They will gain a great insight into how hospitals run and just what it is like to work in the medical profession. We wish them well and know they will represent us proudly.

Regent’s Senior Boys are TISAC Basketball League Champions

The Regent’s senior boys basketball team claimed the TISAC league championships today as they overcame tough opposition in the shape of St Stephen’s. Regent’s applied good pressure early on in the game and maintained a 10 point lead for most of the first and second quarter. However with the team feeling the effects of 2 games in 3 days, St Stephen’s began to rally back and by the end of the third quarter the score was tied at 38 a piece. After some carefully selected words to the team by their coach, the boys took to the court determined not to let the game slip through their fingers. The determination and resilience that have been shown all season by this group of players shone through and they eventually won 63-49, and therefore claiming the league without losing a single game. Huge congratulations to the team.

TISAC Swimming Gala 2017

Senior swimmers had a very successful day of competition at the recent TISAC Swimming Gala at St Andrews 107. The students really enjoyed the atmosphere and swam exceptionally well across all of the events. Regent’s came away with 30 medals which ensured a 2nd place finish overall.

A fantastic effort – Well done Regent’s Senior swimmers!

Basketball match: Regent’s vs Bromsgrove 7-11-17

The Senior boys faced rivals Bromsgrove after losing to them in the TISAC tournament last half term. Preparing for a competitive game, the boys took to court focussed and determined.

They dominated the game early, matching Bromsgrove play for play and taking advantage of their mistakes. They showed class in their play with amazing team work down the court and throughout the team changes.

The game ended as it starts with Regent’s displaying superior play from defence to attack. A fantastic game to watch and a well deserved win. Final score 67-47. Well done Regent’s team!

Ian Murphy Art Workshop – Year 12

Year 12 students visited the workshop of ‘Ian Murphy’, a British based professional Artist who focuses on painting large scale architectural work. On the first day they learnt how to create textural backgrounds using a variety of materials such as scrim, tissue paper, newspaper and even sandpaper. On the second day they focused on completing tone and shade, giving their work form and scale. All the students thoroughly enjoyed their workshop and have come back to classroom brimming with ideas of how they can incorporate these techniques into their own work.
