It’s all a mystery in Year 2!

This week Year 2 have started an interesting unit in the CCS work we have started on Mary Anning. The children became detectives and had to look for clues in some mystery pictures. Each picture had a little bit covered up and we had to work hard with our partner to spot the clues that told us what might be happening in the picture! Year 2 were very good at the detective work and guessed lots of the pictures!

Message from the Heads of School (Week 11 2015)

From the Head of Primary, Mrs. Rachel Perkins

 Dear Parent,

as we move closer to our Loy Krathong celebration tonight I am reminded how vibrant and wonderful our school is. The whole of the school community is working as a team to bring you the best performances, refreshments and most importantly an evening of community spirit for us all to share.
This week we have also celebrated the return of our Year 6 children from the Chiang Mai trip and I am sure there will be more photos and details to follow shortly.

Next week on Wednesday we will be holding our annual Science Day and I know the children are working very hard on their investigations which they will demonstrate in the classrooms.

Have a wonderful weekend!
With best wishes,
Rachel

Computing Experts in Purple Mash Club

purple mashYears 1 and 2 have been learning lots of computing skills in Purple Mash. They have become experts at logging on, saving work, logging off and shutting down. I’m sure their class teachers have noticed their fantastic computing skills too!

The children have been working independently to explore all the different tools, subjects and activities that Purple Mash has to offer. Some favourites include painting, design and make, coding, 3D projects, maths games and designing cities.

Well done Purple Mashers!

Business Studies Visits the Thai Labour Museum

Last week the Year 11 Business students went on a trip to the ‘Thai Labour Museum’. It enhanced their knowledge on the history of labour laws within Thailand and gave a great insight into the history over the last century. The students enjoyed the trip and a great time was had by all involved.

Reception practice writing by writing magic potions!

During Book Week Reception enjoyed reading “Room on the Broom”. We had great fun writing our own recipes to make our own magic potions. We mixed together fire, some of the hair belonging to the witch and even dragon’s poo!

A wonderful way to practice writing and engage our imaginations!

Key Stage 1 and 2 Stars of the Week!

We welcomed the children back after half term with a celebration of the previous terms Stars of the week. The children always really look forward to celebrating each others successes and we think its a wonderful way to start the week!

Boys’ Under 15 Basketball Tournament

A team comprising of year 9 and 10 boys played in a tournament at the Concordian School on Saturday 31st October. The boys  played in a round robin competition against schools from their own division and much bigger and stronger schools from Division One. They played their hearts out and came away with a 2-3 record. Wins against schools that they had lost to earlier in the year and competing against the Division One teams was the highlight of the day. Jace, Sahasi, Faaiz, Mahasi, Anshen, Shine, Mike, Train, Marino and Tee are to be commended for the way that they played and their efforts at training to improve over the season. A special thanks to Mr Rajesh Choithramani who provided drinks for the boys on the day and supported throughout.

Year 1’s Trip to Safari World

The children in Year 1 had a very exciting adventure this week, when they went on a school trip to Safari World! Whilst they were there they got to see lots of different wild animals, which will really help them with their science learning this term. As well looking at some of the animals they also got to up close to the giraffes! They did this by climbing onto the second floor of a specially constructed building, which enabled the amazing giraffes to lean their long necks over and take food from the children! Feeding the giraffes – what an experience an amazing experience!
