We were joined by nearly 30 children during our annual Early Years Christmas Open Afternoon. The children and their families enjoyed a variety of activities, a delicious party tea and a visit from Santa. The afternoon was concluded with a very festive singalong. Our next Open Afternoon will be just before Songkran and the theme will be ‘Easter’.
In Year 5 we have been growing our own potatoes at home. They started off with a ‘seed’ potato, which they suspended in a little water. Over the following weeks they made a diary to record the growth (if any) of their potatoes.
Here are the results from 5T in pictures. Can you guess whose potato had the longest stem?

Representatives from the Student Council helped to make the Christmas party at the Good Shepherd Sister’s very special. They played games and gave out the colouring books and pencils everyone in Primary generously donated as gifts. Some of the money raised from Halloween was used to buy chicken and sticky rice for the children too. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Christmas appeal this year!

Year 8 students get active!
In learning about the Birth of Rome, Year 8 students have been role-playing the two main stories of Romulus and Remus (the more widely used, popular and better known of the two) and the lesser known story of Aeneas. Students had lots of fun re-enacting the battle scenes and took great pleasure in slaying their classmates!
In the Aeneas story there was also a love story where the Queen of Carthage falls in love with Aeneas only to be later abandoned as Aeneas continues his quest and spiritual calling for power. The love scene cause a little embarrassment among some students, although no kissing or cuddling was allowed, but nevertheless good fun had by all.

Years 1 and 2 have been learning lots of computing skills in Purple Mash. They have become experts at logging on, saving work, logging off and shutting down. I’m sure their class teachers have noticed their fantastic computing skills too!
The children have been working independently to explore all the different tools, subjects and activities that Purple Mash has to offer. Some favourites include painting, design and make, coding, 3D projects, maths games and designing cities.
Well done Purple Mashers!

This week Year 2 traveled to ocean world to get a closer look at what lives under the sea! Whilst we we there we got our very own private tour around the tanks and also behind the tanks, where we were shown not only how the water is kept clean, but also how the food is prepared and how the sick fish are looked after in their very own fish tank hospital!
Our guide for the day was Khun B, who explained, in excellent English, all of the amazing facts and figures about the fish and the aquarium. Whilst we where there we also got to visit the 4D cinema, where we watched a short film, where the seats moved and sprayed us which some of the characters jumped out of the screen at us! It was very cool! The day was finished with us looking carefully through the 20cm glass at amazing sharks, which were all bigger than children!! What a fun learning day!
An increasing number of pupils chose to take Economics this year. I asked the pupils why they chose Economics.
The responses included:
- ‘I am interested to learn about how the world markets work’
- ‘I would like to understand how governments make decisions’
- and ‘I would like to grasp how countries interact with each to create trade’.
The pupils are generally excited to learn new concepts about the global economy which we now live in.
