Our new year 10 IGCSE students

This summer, the new year 10 Art students were set a task of drawing a still life. They had to choose 3 or 4 similar objects and juxtapose them in an interesting composition. It is so important to keep practising your drawing skills, especially over an 8 week holiday. Their work is fantastic and I am looking forward to seeing more of their work!

Welcome back from Boarding

11873645_951512964890295_4573933561101242344_nSunday 23rd August 2015 saw the school’s boarding house open its doors to the new school year, welcoming back existing and new boarding students alike.

A boarding orientation event was held to introduce new parents to the team of staff responsible for the Boarding House. It gave us a chance to outline our philosophy for the coming year and some of the features that will be in place to provide the best opportunities and experiences for our boarders. The event was extremely well attended with extra seating having to be brought in at the last minute!

We would like to thank all parents and students who attended. We are looking forward to a great year and to keeping you up to date with news from the Boarding House. A very warm welcome back everyone.

For more information about Boarding please contact Gavin Terry (gavin.terry@regents.ac.th) for the Boys’ Boarding House, or Tamsin Harrison (tamsin.harrison@regents.ac.th) for the Girls’ Boarding House.

A message from the Principal, Mr. Peter Hogan – Welcome to Academic Year 2015-16

Peter Hogan3A warm welcome to all returning and new students. We start this term with our largest ever number of students, our best ever IB Diploma result, excellent IGCSE grades and a number of improvements to the campus.

Examination success

Over the summer break we learned that our average IB Diploma score was 36.1 which is higher than most other Asian countries’ and very likely to be the highest average score in Thailand this year. The highest individual score was 43 out of 45 and the school pass rate was 100%.

IGCSE pass rates were excellent too. A record-breaking 37% of all exams were passed at the top grades of A* and A, 80% of exams were passed at A* to C and 72% of students gained 5 A* to C. Particularly impressive as well was the 100% pass in English Language and English Literature.

New Sixth Form Course

This term we will be launching the Applied Learning course allowing some Year 12 students to study for the Level 3 BTEC in Business. This is a very popular qualification in the UK. Also we have become an accredited centre for the highly regarded International Computer Driving Licence IT qualification.

Staff news

We are welcoming 14 new teaching staff. Regent’s staff turnover at just over 13% is considerably less than other schools in the international sector.

Over the holiday a number of projects have ben completed at the school. These include:

  • New library and ICT room in Primary
  • New covered play area next to the basketball court
  • Covered walkway between Primary and Secondary
