2016 was a year of achievements for our music scholar and talented golfer, Jenny Ham. While preparing for her IGCSE examinations she was also travelling around the world to compete in international golf tournaments. Here is an interview video of our Round Square coordinator Ms. Aina talking to Jenny about her wins and experiences.
As we come to an end of the 2016-2017 academic year, students and parents are both curious and wish to prepare for the next stage. Our Early Years Nursery teachers arranged a meeting to explain parents about the transition from Nursery to Reception. Education and learning in Reception is comparatively different from Nursery and Pre-nursery as the teachers will be preparing the students for Primary school where subjects and activities will diversify.

Regent’s Primary students took part in the annual FOBISIA Primary Games at the beginning of June. 20 of our best athletes who had been training incredibly hard since January, traveled to Phuket to compete in Athletics, Swimming, Tee-Ball and Football. All the students came home with medals and in total Regent’s won 94 medals, 37 gold, 32 silver and 25 bronze. We also came 1st overall in Swimming and 3rd in Athletics. As well as this the U10 Girls Football team won Gold and the U11 Boys Football team won silver. All the students had a truly amazing experience, achieving great success and making friends with other students from all over Asia.– Mr Goodenough (Head of Whole School PE)
A big event for many of our Senior boarders this past month was the Leavers’ Prom. This was the final farewell for our Y13’s, and a number of our Y12’s and Y11’s also joined the celebration. It was a lovely event ending their time with us at Regent’s with a fun-filled evening of entertainment…and many many photos. It is so sad for staff to say goodbye to our Y13’s after looking after them for so long, but we wish all the happiness and success possible for their future.
As an additional farewell some of the Senior Boys and staff went for an evening watching a Thai Premier League football match and a pizza. Fortunately we were lucky enough to witness lots of goals in a thrilling match that finished 5-3!
It is also time for the Boarding House to say farewell to Ms Tamsin Crozier, the Head of Girls’ Boarding. Everyone would like to thank her for her hard work and commitment to the House, and wish her well in the future. Moving into the role we welcome Miss Anna Croucher, who is really eager and excited to be taking on the responsibilities associated with Boarding, and joining us with lots of new ideas to make the boarding experience even better for our students. Here is a welcome message from Miss Croucher

Year 12 students visited the workshop of ‘Ian Murphy’, a British based professional Artist who focuses on painting large scale architectural work. On the first day they learnt how to create textural backgrounds using a variety of materials such as scrim, tissue paper, newspaper and even sandpaper. On the second day they focused on completing tone and shade, giving their work form and scale. All the students thoroughly enjoyed their workshop and have come back to classroom brimming with ideas of how they can incorporate these techniques into their own work.
On May 23rd all Year 7 students went to Bang Na for half a day trip to see how weather data is collected and how it can be used to forecast the weather.
They got to see a Stevenson Screen, rain gauges, anemometers, evaporation pan and a Campbell-Stokes sunshine recorder.
After being told how these instruments worked they went inside for a short lecture about forecasting the weather and the different types of weather Thailand experiences. The students diligently took notes and answered a variety of questions.
Finally everyone went into the Meteorological Discovery Museum for a short history of meteorology.
It was a very informative morning for all the students.
Year 9 have been practising their writing skills this term. Together we watched a short film called ‘Alma’ about a little girl who comes across a mysterious toy shop and a doll who looks just like her. Year 9 students used a range of senses and ‘show don’t tell’ techniques to recreate the story in writing. You can see their attempts here: https://regentsschoolbangkok.padlet.org/lucy_brookes1/jva8nmgzlkhq
