On the Banks of the Wabash, Far Away
Amarin Wexler (Tao) a Year 9 student at The Regent’s International School Bangkok was honoured to be awarded a summer music scholarship earlier this year at Indiana University Piano Academy, one of the most prestigious places to study music in the United States.
With the support of a group of excellent musicians, outstanding university professors and an intensive music program, Tao immersed himself in US culture and had the opportunity to improve his piano-playing technique.
During the 3-week course, Tao had a daily diet of classical master classes, lectures, lessons, concerts, weekly recitals and hours of practising. In the final concert, Tao had a chance to perform a piano duet with his partner, a talented student named Craig Murray.
Tao valued this opportunity to meet other creative people, understand American culture, exchange knowledge and to work with a team to overcome obstacles. He also made many new good friends.
Tao’s summer ‘Silk Road’ also included going to concerts and events featuring global ly-renowned artists such as Stephen Hough, Itzhak Perlman and Yuja Wang.
All at Regent’s Bangkok are extremely proud of him and we wish him continued success in his musical career.
