Merit Making Day in Remembrance of HM the Late King Rama 9

Regent’s International School Bangkok hosts Merit Making Day in remembrance of HM the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej
On the 9th of October 2020, the school hosted the annual merit-making ceremony in remembrance of the beloved late King; HM Bhumibol Adulyadej. The event was held inside the Auditorium due to rain. To pay homage to the late King, 9 monks from Rama 9 Temple led the prayer at the ceremony.

Mr. Martyn Smith, Principal, and Ms. Caroline Drumm, Head of Early Years and Primary School, presided over this event along with  students, teachers, and staff chanting prayers and blessings.
The event focused on social distancing. Small groups attended the merit-making ceremony for two hours. In addition to the ceremony of making merit and giving alms to the monks, HM the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej was remembered when the school team presented the slide show about the royal duties and patronage of King Rama 9 and photos of merit making last year.

Proceeds and donations from the event will also go to the Priest Hospital, established to specifically provide health care for Buddhist monks and novices from all over the country plus the purchase of medical equipment for Bahphot Phisai Hospital in Nakhon Sawan. Extensive thanks for the support from Regent’s parents, Medical Volunteer Team, IB CAS students, Thai Reserve Officer Training Corps and the school community for their generosity.
