On Saturday Regent’s hosted the U15 Girls TISAC Football Tournament.

We started our group games against a strong St Andrew’s team who underestimated our ability as we scored the first goal. They responded quickly with the equaliser, ending the first half 1-1. With quick thinking from Benz and Grace in midfield, we took the lead again in the second half but struggled to dampen their strong strikers and the game ended 2-3. Next, we faced Charter; we attacked early and were rewarded with the first goal although the game was a 1-1 draw.

We met an undefeated Bangkok Prep team in the semi finals. We conceded one goal in the first half but took to the pitch in the second half with a new energy and focus. Unfortunately were unable to convert this into a goal so we went into the 3rd/4th place play off against Ascot. We scored the first goal and dominated this game – conceding a goal late on, taking us to extra time. The girls gave it everything they had however a small defensive mistake was all Ascot needed to win a free kick and score from it. We proudly took 4th place and everyone enjoyed a lovely day of football.

Regent’s took part in a TISAC Under 13 and Under 15 swimming Gala at St. Andrew’s 107 on Tuesday 6th March. We assembled a strong team who competed across a variety of strokes and distances.  There were many praiseworthy results: Sun won the 100m Breastroke, Fay won the 50m Breaststroke, Yurika won the 100m freestyle, Sun won the 50m Freestyle and May won our second 100m Breastroke award. Also Regent’s  secured second place in all four of the relay events that we entered.

Well done to everyone who competed; we look forward to the Secondary Swimming Gala to be held in school early May!

The Regent’s Senior Boys Football Team performed brilliantly to finish in 3rd place in the TISAC Senior Boys Football Tournament at Ascot on Saturday. The Hosts won the Tournament beating St Andrews 71 in closely fought final. Regent’s gained 3rd place by convincingly beating Bangkok Prep 6-0 in the 3rd and 4th place playoff. Earlier in the Tournament Regent’s qualified from the group stages by beating BCIS 3-1 and drawing with Bromsgrove 1-1. The boys did extremely well and although they lost their semi-final against STA 2-0, they more than made up for their loss and disappointment by dominating Bangkok Prep in the 3rd and 4th place playoff, scoring some lovely individual and team goals in scintillating performance.

With the Senior Girls finishing runners up in their tournament. Regent’s can confidently claim to currently be the second best school in TISAC Senior Football.

Our first group game was against a strong Ascot team, who had some very skilful players with amazingly strong and accurate shots on goal. They took advantage of our slightly sleepy start and they came away with a deserving win.

We then faced Bangkok Prep, who underestimated our ability as the girls stepped up and found their confidence. Some lovely passing and attacking play saw lissa slot in a goal in the first half taking the lead 1-0. In the second half, the girls continued to push in attack, hungry for a second goal. The defence were strong and consistent, being lead by Natalie throughout. Finishing 1-0.

This saw us through to the semi finals against well known opposition SIS. After our last game at the Pattaya Games finished 1-1, the girls knew they had to maintain their concentration and push for a goal early. As always, it was a fantastic game and the girls really pulled together to win 1-0, which saw us into the final.

The final took us against Ascot once again. With the aim to put in an improved performance from the first. The girls worked really hard to limit their skilled strikers, with birthday girl and goalkeeper Nane being challenged with every shot. She was invaluable and she made Ascot’s game very difficult. Sadly, we weren’t able to completely dampen them, but with far more chances for us, the girls really stepped up and deservedly came 2nd overall.

A fantastic morning which everyone enjoyed and these girls are real role models for the younger years to look up to.

The Under 13 FOBISIA Games was held at Thanyapura Sports Hotel, Phuket, on 22nd to 24th February 2018. Throughout the weekend boys and girls competed in a number of different sporting activities including football, swimming, basketball and athletics. In total Regent’s won 17 medals in the pool and 6 on the Athletics track; our girls were placed 3rd in the basketball and football and our boys managed a fourth place finish in basketball.
There were individual successes for Sebastian, who achieved four medals in the swimming pool, Bam won gold in the discus and Ysabel won gold during the 200m finals. Our students demonstrated some real teamwork and determination to succeed. Well done to everyone who took part.
