Burn It Off Week

Last week our secondary school students burned some extra calories with the teachers and their classmates. Here are some pictures of the fun filled ‘Burn It Off’ week.

Year 7 Residential

Here is a little throwback to our recent Year 7 residential trip to Samae San Island. The students thoroughly enjoyed the beach activities and had a fun time bonding with their classmates!

Weekly Debate (June W1)

“This House Believes all teenagers should take a mandatory ‘parenting class’ before leaving school.”

Summary:
While some students thought that parenting classes were a positive initiative to promote education and awareness around parenting to enrich the lives of the future generation, the vast majority of Regent’s students believe parenting is a skill which should be learnt within families, cultures and traditions, not taught in an institution.
Read individual opinions here.

Each week students are challenged to engage in a whole-school debate about a variety of different topics.  The Weekly Debate is an excellent forum for students to learn about and question new things; improve their written English and hone their skills of evaluation.  The Weekly Debate takes place on padlet – a wonderful tool which shows a live feed of students’ opinions and ideas.

From the Head of Primary

Dear Parents,

As we come to the end of a very busy week I have the chance to reflect on what a fabulous school we have here at The Regent’s.

We have received several awards recently including 6 trophies from the Primary FOBISA Games and over 50 medals. During the games our children competed with great stamina and team spirit. This was then followed by the news that our Coding team came 1st place in Thailand in the FOBISIA Coding Competition and runner up in South East Asia. We are all very proud of our team!
Today we concluded our week with a fun filled swimming gala and saw the Yellow Tigers win both the Upper and Lower Primary competition. Well done to all the staff who supported during the day, especially Mr Bond (PE Co-ordinator) for his organisation and dedication.

Have a great weekend!

With best wishes
Rachel

3M Greek Masks

3M have been learning about Greek mythology in Literacy and CCS. The students really enjoyed the art project which involved planning a design for a Greek mask, making it out of clay and painting it. The project was a success and the masks look brilliant!

Boys’ Boarding Trip to Suphanburi

On the 28th and 29th May some of our boys went on a weekend trip to Suphanburi. This town, about 2 hours from Bangkok, is home to a few of our boarders. We got to spend some time with their families, and in addition we had VIP access and the opportunity to watch a Thai Premier League football match – Suphanburi vs Bangkok Glass.

A big thank you to Phoom and Moss` families for the great time we had on our weekend away.

From the Head of Secondary

As we enter the final three weeks of the school year, Regent’s International is becoming even more active.
Next week, the PE Department is organising ‘Burn it Off Week’ during extra-curricular time to encourage students to be more active prior to the long holiday. During this week we also have Year 6 Transition Day and the start of this year’s Round Square Activity Days. Every child has received a letter outlining the programme during these days and I would strongly encourage parents to support the school in ensuring that the students take part in what promises to be series of active, and mind-provoking events. On Saturday, the annual Business Studies trip to London leaves. I hope that the students and staff enjoy their visit to the UK’s capital. All the while, the rehearsals for Aladdin Jr continue apace getting ready for opening night on Thursday 16th June- make sure you purchase your tickets in advance!
In the final week of term we will be enjoying our Swimming Gala with a twist, a Parent-Teacher Consultation and our annual Prize Giving Ceremony in which we will celebrate the achievements of our hardworking and talented students.
I am looking forward to seeing many of you at our upcoming events.

Welcome from the Head of Secondary

In many schools the latter weeks of Term Three tend to be a bit of a gentle wind down to the holidays…but not here! This week alone we have our Year Seven Outdoor Education Trip, an Environmental Trip to the Korean island of Jeju and of course the long awaited end to the IBDP examinations followed by the equally long anticipated Graduation and Senior Social. Whilst some may long for a slow and steady canter into the Summer break, there is something exciting about a school where learning and activities related to holistic education continue to the very final day. Even in our final week of the year, the PE Department are organising a Swimming Gala with a ‘twist’ on Wednesday 22nd June. What that is, you will have to join us to find out…

What’s happening in Boarding

boarding1

Many of our students are currently in the middle of their IGCSE and IB exams, and busy revising hard. From all the staff, and their fellow students, we wish them the best of luck, and feel their pain with all that hard work and long hours studying!

Last weekend a large group of our boarding students, those that were not busy studying for exams, ran a service activity on our boarding campus. Local children from the surrounding streets were invited onto campus to make use of our great facilities. Our boarders ran football and painting sessions for them, and finished up supervising a swim session. It was great to see the children so happy and active, and equally great to see our boarders leading activities. Coming up this week in boarding we have a ‘Bow Fight’ company coming onto campus. This is a little bit like paint-ball, but with Velcro bows and arrows to make a Hunger Games style battlefield. They will be setting up their urban fortress on our football pitch and lots of boarders have signed up. This looks like great fun and no doubt there will be plenty of staff trying to get involved too (myself included!)
