Welcome message from the Head of Primary

Dear Parents, last week we enjoyed lots of musical experiences. We were treated to a wonderful musical recital by Early Years and Primary children playing a range of instruments, including, the piano, flute and violin. Many thanks to all parents and family members who attended and also congratulations to the children who played so well, some of them for the first time to a large audience.  Last Monday The Yamaha Music School opened it’s doors and many children have signed up for music classes. There are still places available so please come and see me if you need more information or visit the Yamaha Music School on the top floor of the new building.  20 children attended the annual TISAC Choral Festival at St Andrew’s school and Mrs Lyng, Primary Music teacher, reported that the children were wonderfully behaved and gained more experience singing different styles of music and made many new friends. Have a wonderful weekend!

with best wishes Rachel

As usually the teachers and I are already planning our event schedule and there are many highlights to look forward to ie Round Square Week, concerts and show, FOBISIA Games, Grandparent Day, Year 6 Exhibition Prize Day and the Year 6 and Reception Graduations. (and many more!).

This week we enjoyed the start of the Extra Curricular activities and next week the Yamaha Music school will open for the first time.

Please may I take this opportunity for your help and support with being partners in your child’s education, together we can make a big difference to your child’s future.

Welcome letter from Head of Primary

Dear Parent,

a-Rachel_0002webAs we come to the end of our second term I constantly being reminded of what an excellent school The Regent’s is.

We have celebrated sporting success, winning the Tournament of Mind competition in Thailand, the FOBISIA maths team visiting China and the wonderful Year 5 and 6 performance of Shakespeare Rocks.

With all these events and activities we sometimes forget that the children’s academic studies are continuing and I have been particularly impressed with the progress the children are making which has been documented in their end of term reports.

This week Ms Caro Drumm, the new Head of Primary visited the school and we had a wonderful time showing her round her new school. Many parents joined us for a coffee afternoon to be formally introduced to her.

Finally I would like to wish everyone a joyful and peaceful Songkran holiday and I look forward to welcoming you all back on April the 18th.

With best wishes,

Rachel

Welcome letter from Head of Primary

Dear Parent,

a-Rachel_0002webThank you for coming to join us on our very special International Day on Saturday the 27th of February, it was a delight to share the day with you. I was very impressed with the year group performances and the children danced, played instruments and sang beautifully. I was particularly pleased to see the quality of the costumes and props the children used. The booths were very professionally decorated and I witnessed many of the children enjoying the games organised by the class teachers.

My heartfelt thanks go to the teachers and teaching assistants for their help on the day and the planning and preparation these important event take.

This weekend we have a group of children attending the Tournament of Mind competition at ISB and I would like to wish them the very best for the event.

Have a great weekend.

Best wishes

Rachel

Message from Head of Secondary

a-Brian_0002webOn the final Friday of last half-term, school was closed to students, but open to staff who had an INSET day. The day began with teams of staff presenting for 5-10 minutes on a topic of educational interest to their colleagues. The quality of the research, preparation and presentations only confirmed what I already knew about the staff at Regent’s International School; your children are in safe and professional hands.

This week we have a team of students bound for Kuala Lumpur for a FOBISIA Maths Competition with Ms Addis and Mr Corr. We wish them well for the competition and also in making the memories upon which a good school experience is built.

On Saturday we had our annual International Day where both students and staff have been involved collaboratively in preparing National, Multinational or Colour Booths, kick-starting our recycling project and other projects involving our various community partners. It really is a whole school and wider community event with all parties working together to make the day successful.

This week, Dr Peter Jones who will be the Head of Secondary from August 2016 will be visiting the school to meet with students and staff to help ensure that a smooth transition takes place prior to his moving to Thailand in August. I am arranging an informal meeting whereby parents are invited to meet Dr Jones on Wednesday 2nd March at 8.10am in the Business Suite meeting room.

Another busy, exciting and learning-filled week as usual.

Welcome Message from Head of Primary

a-Rachel_0002webDear Parent, I am writing this on the eve of our International Day and the school is full of music and singing as the children prepare for the event. I am sure we will all have a fabulous time together, enjoying each others company and meeting new friends.

I was very pleased to welcome the Year 5 children back from their residential trip on the Barge. I have heard all their stories and heard their songs and it looked like they had a fabulous trip. Many of the children said that their highlight was jumping off the barge into the river!

Have a wonderful weekend and see you in the morning ready to enjoy International Day 2016.

With best wishes,
Rachel

Message from the Heads of School (Week 19 2016)

a-Brian_0002webMessage from the Head of Secondary, Mr. Brian Irving

‘There’s always something going on’ may be viewed in many ways. In an ever optimistic way, I’d like to this of this as a positive affirmation of the number of events our staff organise for the benefit of the students in Secondary.
Last week alone, we have had a Year 8/9 Shakespeare Workshop, a number of games fixtures and a larger than anticipated University Fair and Preparation for University Presentations. In addition to normal lessons and ECA, staff are offering Intervention Sessions for Year 11 and Year 13 students who need some extra support and guidance in preparation for the forthcoming examinations. Students are being identified and personally ‘invited’ to attend these sessions at lunchtimes and after school. My thanks, on behalf of the student body, go to all staff who work tirelessly to ensure that the experiences of the students are the very best they can be.

From Head of Primary, Mrs. Rachel Perkins

a-Rachel_0002webDear Parent,

we have enjoyed yet another busy week in both Early Years and Primary, especially as the Primary enjoyed their annual Sports Day. It was wonderful to see so many of you join us for this popular event. The children competed in a very professional manner and many medals were won on the day. Many congratulations to the Blue Sharks for winning the event and a huge thank you goes to the whole staff and Mr Bond for their support which made this day a great experience for the children.

This week we hope you can join us celebrating Chinese New Year and I am looking forward to seeing all the children dressed up in their red clothes on Friday.
Have a great week!
best wishes
Rachel

Messages from the Heads Week 18

From Head of Secondary, Mr. Brian Irving

a-Brian_0002webDear Parents,
This week has seen the Secondary School engaged in sports’ fixtures, a Parent-Teacher Consultation as a follow-up to the Year 11 and 13 Mock Exams and 4 UK university visits. Next week has even more going on.
On Wednesday 27th, around 30 UK universities and college will be visiting school to give information about their courses, talk and advise students and some will be presenting what their institutions can offer. This will be followed up by an afternoon of seminars on topics as diverse as writing personal statements with impact to getting the most out of your university years. Parents are most welcome to come to the fair.
Saturday 30th sees our annual Music Scholarship Auditions taking place where talented musicians from across the city, and beyond, will be performing in order to try and secure a Regent’s Scholarship Award.
Of course, learning and teaching both continue among everything else taking place!

From Head of Primary, Mrs. Rachel Perkins

Dear Parent,

a-Rachel_0002webThis week has been fun filled and very busy. The highlight of the week with the Early Years Sports Day with which many parents joined their children in lots of athletic activities. The rain clouds did not dampen our spirits and we were lucky enough to complete all the tasks including the running races. All of the children had a fabulous time competing and showed great potential. Many thanks goes to the PE department for all their organisation and support particularly Mr Bond for his tireless energy.

Have a wonderful weekend!
With best wishes,
Rachel
