Our Primary swimmers had a friendly warm up competition held at SISB on Wednesday 21st March. Although he other teams were strong our boys and girls swam well resulting in 7 Gold medals, 9 Silver medal and 5 Bronze medals. A fantastic showing from all our swimmers! We are all looking forward to the finals in May.

Primary Swimming Gala 2018

Regent’s annual Primary Swim Gala took place on Friday 16th March. The day began with Year 1 and 2 students competing in a series of fun relay events involving various flotation devices and balls. Yellow House gained the most points for the Year 1s and it was Red House who took the lead for the Year 2s. Next it was the turn of our Year 5 and 6 students, who competed using more traditional swim strokes. This was a hotly contested affair, with all the Houses gaining lots of points. However it was Yellow House who were victorious for the Year 5’s and 6’s combined. By the afternoon it was time for the Year 3 and 4 students to complete their races. Once again the points were shared fairly evenly amongst the Houses. However it was the Green Crocodiles who collected the most wins and points to go towards their entire House total score. Once all the points were added up Green House raised the Swim House Cup aloft to rapturous applause from the students in their House. A very well done to all the students who took part; a fun and very wet day was had by all.

English Week

Last week was English Week in the Secondary School with lots of creative English activities taking place.  Throughout the week students were challenged with daily quizzes on language, literature and lateral thinking.  On Thursday the school hosted its first ever Poetry Festival – a celebration of the written and spoken word – with students and staff taking to the stage to share their poems.  On Friday we celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as our favourite book characters. To round up the week, the English department provided a 99-question quiz on all things language and literature for students to enjoy during tutor time.  There was some stiff competition but Year 10 outshone all others by securing the first, second and third places!

Well done and thank you to everyone who got involved.

Year 6 to Year 7 Transition

On Friday 23rd February a group of Year 7 students visited the Primary school for a question and answer session with Year 6 about their transition to the Secondary school. They answered questions about teaching and learning, extra curricular activities, break and lunch times as well as rewards and sanctions. The Year 6 students had many questions such as “What are the main differences between Primary and Secondary?”, “What kind of activities are offered after school?” and “What subjects do Secondary students study that we don’t study in Primary?”

Overall, the session was very informative, with the Year 7 students giving some excellent, detailed answers. We hope that the year 6 students are looking to visiting the Secondary school in the coming weeks for Transition Day, when everything they heard about in this Q&A session will really come to life!

Open House February 2018

Yesterday morning we invited prospective families to our school to find out more about life at Regent’s. It was a welcome opportunity for our students to tell parents about how we learn here and the wide range of additional learning opportunities that we provide. Our children did an excellent job of showing our visitors how proud they are of their school.

Chinese New Year Assembly and Celebration

On the 9th of February the Chinese Department organised a Chinese New Year celebration for our students. Everyone wore something red or Chinese traditional clothes to make the atmosphere very lively and fit with the decorations in the building. During lunchtime, there were dumplings for our students and staff to enjoy followed by the 2018 Chinese New Year Assembly. Students, regardless of their nationality, entertained each other with singing, dancing and writing Chinese calligraphy.

Year 5 and 6 Annie Musical

Year Five & Six have performed in a spectacular production of the musical “Annie”. The excitement of an orphan’s adventure in New York was brought to the stage by sixty students in their final primary year in a blaze of colour, song and dance. Regent’s has a well established reputation for excellent productions and every year the standard seem to get better.
