On Thursday morning Rew Rew in Reception N visited Mrs Perkins to show her his wonderful instructional writing on how to plant a tomato seed. He showed excellent confidence in reading and writing. Well done Rew Rew!
We now have the results for the FOBISIA Maths competition that Sun, Jojo, Data and Tara in Year 6 attended earlier this month.
The Regent’s team came in 15th place out of 29 schools from across South East Asia.
We are very proud of the hard work our students put in to preparing for the competition and for their efforts in the competition itself. It is a very challenging competition with the best mathematicians from each school competing. Our team worked incredibly well together and their excellent team work as well as their outstanding Maths abilities led to a successful result. Mr. Jarrett, our team coach, is already looking to our talented mathematicians in Years 5 and 4 to make a team to compete next year.

On Wednesday the 9th of March at 07:38am Regents International School students were lucky enough to view one of the rarest celestial events, an eclipse of the Sun.
The Sun was partially eclipsed for nearly 2 hours and at its maximum coverage, 41% was hidden from our view by the Moon.
Many students took part and viewed the event through pin hole cameras, the camera on their mobile device and most successfully by looking through a CD. All of these methods made it safe see what was happening and gave us all an unforgettable experience.

On Thursday 28th February, a group of Year 7 and 8 students took part in the annual Fobisia Secondary Mathematics competition. This year it was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, at the beautiful Saujana Resort. Ms Addis and Mr Corr accompanied the following students: Jessie Choi, Conc Aroonpairoj, Andy Song, Plub Sakulkerewatana. Shree Dubey, Alex Sangthongnirundom, Amey Panjwani and Gain Unakul.
It was an intensive 4 days of mathematics which included individual tests, problem solving, construction of straw bridges, a Maths Trail, maths puzzles and cooperative team challenges. The competition was fierce between schools, which came from all parts of Asia, from South Korea and China in the north to Singapore and Malaysia in the south. Over 200 students participated. This was the school’s first time at competing at the secondary competition and unfortunately, we came away without medals.
However, we all learned much from competing with the other young elite mathematical minds in Asia.There were many highlights to the trip but most special would be the 3 hour night tour of Kuala Lumpur which included the Petronas Twin Towers, Independence Square, the Menara KL Tower and the city centre; and a final night of magician’s act, light show and disco.

For three days last week, 39 Year 8 students were whisked away from school to take part in some fun and challenging activities. Our first afternoon was spent settling into camp and heading out on Jungle Treks; Where we were able to see some fantastic flora and fauna – even the considerable claw marks left in the trunk of a tree from a neighborhood bear! Day two saw a mix of river kayaking, rock climbing and the very popular zip-line.
It was awesome being able to see students overcome some of their fears and achieve things they perhaps didn’t think they would ever be able to do. That evening the students were then tasked with cooking their own supper – they were split into small groups and were given a BBQ, food and utensils – some of the results were delicious.
The final day’s activity was to go paint-balling! The students were split into four groups, each group had to then try to capture their opponents flag without being shot. Thankfully not too many bodies came away bruised and battered. After a short bus journey back to camp it was then time to head home to Bangkok.

Mr Jarrett’s class were investigating how bird’s beaks have adapted to their different food sources. The students used pliers, spoons, forks and chopsticks to represent the different kinds of bird beaks. Screws, ribbons, spaghetti and foam balls were used to represent the different shapes and sizes of the food.
They had a great time whilst learning!
Year 7 students have been learning about textures and mark making this year and have used these skills to render their own versions of Van Gogh’s masterpieces.
TISAC Primary Arts Day took place last Friday and it was a great success. Mrs Lyng and Miss Love took 7 children to St Stephen’s International School. They were Peem, Nano, Gino, Popiang, Albert, Wan Xing and Harry. They all performed very well in all the activities.
