1st Football Fixture of the Season: U13 boys

The Regent’s School kicked off the season with a 1-1 draw against a local International School in what was a sweltering affair. The team led by Captain Tor Aminsen have had a build up of 15 weeks preparation for their first away game and excitement was high.

The game was dominated by the Regent’s team but confidence in front of goal proved costly as the home side went ahead early into the second half. Some fine forward burst from Tor pressured the opposition defence but it was a calculated long range strike by Max Watson that pulled things level. There were some good performances by Jimmy, Ann-ann and Amey.

Areas to improve for our next encounter involve being more confident and decisive in our abilities.

ENGLISH STARS OF THE MONTH

The English Department would like to congratulate the following students for being January 2016’s ‘English Stars of the Month’ for exemplary behaviour and effort.

Jeong Woo – Year 11
Jeong Woo has worked extremely hard to improve his English over the last year; he has made so much progress that he has been moved up two sets. He is the perfect example that ‘hard work really does pay off’!

Deep – Year 13
Deep’s grades have improved steadily during his time in the IB Language and Literature course. He takes on board feedback given by the teacher, reads the texts carefully and is mindful to structure his essay responses effectively. Well done Deep!

MayMay – Year 8
MayMay worked extremely hard during term One; so hard, in fact, that she has been moved into Set 1. She takes great care with homework and always listens carefully in class, most of all, she makes great efforts to read at home which is why she has won the award this month!

Art: Year 10 mixed media

Year 10 Art students have been learning a range of techniques and mastered a number of different media. Over the Christmas holiday they have produced beautiful pieces of work in Oil Pastel, Colour Pencil, Collage and Watercolour.

Visual Arts trip to Bangkok Sculpture Center

This term Year 12 IB pupils have started a new topic on sculpture. To inspire them, we visited the Bangkok Sculpture Center which celebrates sculptural art of Thailand.

The collection shows work from the ancient Buddhist period to the rise of the modern era which has been influenced by the history, social issues and transitions of Thailand.

The pupils thoroughly enjoyed their day and have come back bursting with creative ideas, so come and see their sculpture exhibition next term!

TISAC Junior Mathematics Relay Competition

On Friday 13th November, 2015 The Regent’s School sent 4 teams of 4 students to the TISAC Junior Mathematics Relay Competition. The Competition was held at Ascot International School. The students who participated were:

The best placed team out of the 22 teams who competed was Team 3 who were joint fourth. There was only a trophy for the first and second placed teams but everybody who entered was given a certificate which will be presented to them in assembly in the near future.

It’s all a mystery in Year 2!

This week Year 2 have started an interesting unit in the CCS work we have started on Mary Anning. The children became detectives and had to look for clues in some mystery pictures. Each picture had a little bit covered up and we had to work hard with our partner to spot the clues that told us what might be happening in the picture! Year 2 were very good at the detective work and guessed lots of the pictures!

Students of the Month

Put incredible effort into his Reading Log’, ‘positive attitude in every lesson’ and ‘improved participation in school sport’ were some of the reasons students were nominated to be October’s Student of the Month.
