Welcome Message from Head of Primary

a-Rachel_0002webDear Parents,

welcome back to Term 3. It was lovely to see all the children running into school on Monday morning looking well rested and ready for the new term.

As usually the teachers and I are already planning our event schedule and there are many highlights to look forward to ie Round Square Week, concerts and show, FOBISIA Games, Grandparent Day, Year 6 Exhibition Prize Day and the Year 6 and Reception Graduations. (and many more!).

This week we enjoyed the start of the Extra Curricular activities and next week the Yamaha Music school will open for the first time.

Please may I take this opportunity for your help and support with being partners in your child’s education, together we can make a big difference to your child’s future.

with best wishes

Primary TISAC Quiz

On Thursday 24th March, this year’s TISAC Quiz team went to St Andrew’s School in Sathorn to compete against seven other teams in the annual quiz. After winning their place on the team following the Quiz Off, the team members were Sangdad from Year 3, Anika from Year 4, Santa from Year 5 and veteran quiz member and Team Captain, Zak from Year 6.

This year’s format was a little different. In previous years the children had to be fast at putting their hands up but this time each team was provided with an iPad and the quiz was online using the excellent website, Kahoot. Points were awarded for all correct answers and the faster the questions were answered, the more points were scored. There were seven rounds in total: Sport, World Flags, General Knowledge, Screen Test, Logos, Maths and Celebrity Pictures.

Our team got off to a great start and climbed our way up to second place, where we stayed for a long time. The top three teams were answering everything correctly until we got one question wrong and dropped into third place. Again we maintained this position right up to question 91 (of 119) and then we made a couple of errors and ended up in sixth place. Unfortunately we just didn’t have time to climb our way back up the leader board and this was our final position. Nobody could catch St Andrew’s Sathorn and they retained the top position for almost the entire quiz, so well deserved winners.

The children had a fantastic time and made a great team. They worked very well together and tried their absolute best. They were exceptionally well behaved and were even quizzing each other on the journey to the quiz. Maybe next year we will win the trophy!

SALAD in Science

Students in Year 7 were given the challenge of teaching each other about the phases of the moon in an interesting and creative way.

They completed this task during this term’s Speaking And Listening All Day and so were encouraged to present their ideas without using pens. Points were awarded for creativity, teamwork and the accuracy of their information and despite tough competition the winners were Amy, Catalina and Ichigo who rapped and danced through new, crescent, quater, gibbous and full moons!

The Primary Easter Disco, put on by the Primary Student Council, was a huge success. All students, parents and staff had a great time. The Student Council was able to raise 18,230 Baht from the event, which goes toward helping our community partner, Good Shepherd Sisters. Hopefully we’ll have another disco in Term 3!

Welcome letter from Head of Primary

Dear Parent,

a-Rachel_0002webAs we come to the end of our second term I constantly being reminded of what an excellent school The Regent’s is.

We have celebrated sporting success, winning the Tournament of Mind competition in Thailand, the FOBISIA maths team visiting China and the wonderful Year 5 and 6 performance of Shakespeare Rocks.

With all these events and activities we sometimes forget that the children’s academic studies are continuing and I have been particularly impressed with the progress the children are making which has been documented in their end of term reports.

This week Ms Caro Drumm, the new Head of Primary visited the school and we had a wonderful time showing her round her new school. Many parents joined us for a coffee afternoon to be formally introduced to her.

Finally I would like to wish everyone a joyful and peaceful Songkran holiday and I look forward to welcoming you all back on April the 18th.

With best wishes,

Rachel
